MAY MEMBERS MEETING

     The May members meeting will be held on Saturday, June 2 because of the Memorial Day holiday.   The meeting will be a “show and tell” covered dish luncheon to be held at the home of Sally Golbrecht at 92 Sandy Bay Drive in Poquoson at 10:00.  Bring a covered dish and come and show off your talents.  “Show and tell” is always fun and interesting.  Thank you Sally

BOARD MEETING

The next board meeting will be held on Monday, April 30 at 10:00 am at the home of Peggy Newcomb at 1540 Fleming Rd. in Hayes Va. 23072.

MEMBERSHIP DUES

Membership dues were due on February 28.

Dues should be sent to Debbie Pittman 103 Chesman Landing Seaford, Va. 23696 Cost is $25.00 for members and an additional $5.00 for associates and spouses. Please renew your membership today.

SEAFOOD FESTIVAL

We are again fortunate to have Andrea Forrest to be heading up the seafood festival. Applications have been mailed and the dates for the festival are October 19,20, & 21. Mark your calendars. She has already sold 32 spaces.

MEMBER NEWS

Barbara Tenpas will be exhibiting at "Art on the Square" in Williamsburg on April 29. PAL Member Angela Stroup will have a display at the Poquoson Library the month of April. She has been hired to teach an art program at the Chesapeake in Newport News and she also teaches at her house. She has been accepted into the invitational and juried show "Artists Who Teach" which opened on March 3 at the Charles Taylor Art Center in Hampton. Angela also volunteers for Tidewater Arts Outreach and loves it. If you would like first hand information about this fine organization, contact Angela at 757 833-0421 or angelaps@cox.net Debbie Scott's painting "Bowing to the Light" was accepted for the Virginia Watercolor Society juried art show which will be held April 14 - May 27 at the CHTAC.

AREA EVENTS

Peninsula Fine Art Center Who We Are, Past and Present (April 7-July 8,2012) In recognition of Pfac's 50th anniversary, this exhibition celebrates the regional artists who have been a part of Pfac's history by their participation in the exhibitions program through a solo exhibition or who have a significant history of teaching in the Studio Art School. Charles Taylor Hampton, Va. April 14-May 27 Virginia Watercolor Society 33rd Juried Exhibition 2012 This annual VWS exhibition features 105 art works by many of Virginia's finest watercolor painters, and represents the highlight of the year for watercolorists from around the state. Senior Health Art Expo--Senior artists 55 and older from the Hampton Roads area are invited to participate in this year's Art Expo on Friday, May 18 from 9-3. We are looking for artistic talent in a variety of mediums. Artwork that falls into the following categories will be displayed at the Successful Aging Forum; paintings, drawings, ceramics, photography, sculptures, textiles, and woodwork. Items can be no larger than (3'X4'). This event will give artisans a chance to win 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons in all categories with a grand prize for the overall winner. Successful Aging Forum participants will have the opportunity to view and vote on the art displays, as will professional artists, and representatives from the Tidewater Art Outreach organization. Enter your artwork into the competition and share your artistic abilities with others. All seniors are welcome to submit entries for the art expo.
